So I am trying something new. When I do my Sunday YouTube upload I am going to write a complimentary Blog to go with it.
So today upload has gone out a little late…. I totally mis-managed my time this weekend with it being Wrestlemania, but it is now up and here we go with my first complimentary Blog.
So this weeks video subject is part 1 of my Holiday to Orlando Florida in October 2019.
Ah the simple times before Covid-19 when you could travel and que in close proximity to other people in crowded theme parks.
Indeed it was a simpler time in regards to how the world was working but in my head it was a much less simple time.
I was wrestling with many things, the loss of my parents, not really knowing where I fit in in the world, trying to master the art of living on my own for the first time ever….. it was a bit rough.
I was and still am lucky enough to have a group of really good and close friends around me that got me through. 1 of which, Peter and his Girlfriend Becci I got to travel with …. (well we ended up in the same destination at the same time) to Orlando.
We had a very fun week or so planned lots of theme parks and Halloween fun. I also got to celebrate my birthday whilst I was there.
I can’t really put in to words yet the state my head was in that October, it certainly wasn’t healthy and I ended up travelling solo on a plane for the first time in many many years. Now I am a very nervous flyer so this was a choice.
To be honest it went pretty well, I got to know the couple I was sat next to and they were lovely and they kept me company.
I passed the time in my usual way by planning out which films to watch to pass the time to get to my destination.
On this flight I chose to watch Contagion – Brilliant film but oh boy was that an ironic choice 4 months on, I mean thanks to this film I understood the whole R rating thing we hear about daily due to living through a Global Pandemic.
After I edited together the travel day footage I realized I hadn’t really done the footage justice with to camera segments, talking about what we were doing, what we were going to do and what we were enjoying. After wracking my brains I decided to film after the fact to camera to cut scene to, I have been enjoying playing around with different techniques of editing and story telling.
I think you can see my learning and progression as the weeks of editing and new filming is being released.
I also got some new equipment during putting this film together and got to experiment with voice over, I am made up with this. I think going forward I am going to try and find the perfect balance of cut scenes, filming more to camera footage originally and voice overs to tell my stories going forward.
Next week I will be looking at and editing together the holiday, I am so happy I started to film more stuff, it’s proving to be such a good way to remember and reflect not only on good times but how far I have some during this massive time of flux I am living through.
Here’s to a great week fellow Outliers
